This past year has been a marathon, a war, a dumpster fire, and oddly enough, a gift.

This surgery marked my last major step in my treatment plan, and I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Cliff notes from this past week: drains suck, pain management has gone better than expected, I look deformed (for now), and I didn’t get something that I was really hopeful for.

I will be having a double mastectomy and a sentinel node biopsy.

There is a sense of freedom creeping in.

Had it not been for this diagnosis, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience this joy.
